P&G Safeguard Celebrates Global Handwashing Day with Taguig City Schools

“We would like to thank P&G and Safeguard for their continued support in providing schools access to handwashing stations and consistently promoting WASH. The provision of these handwashing stations will be effective in increasing awareness of the importance of handwashing with soap and clean water to prevent communicable diseases in schools.” ~Dr. Alejandro Ibañez, School Division Superintendent of Taguig City and Pateros
Health experts advise that handwashing with soap can reduce cases of diarrhea and respiratory infections among schoolchildren.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines, the maker of trusted antibacterial soap Safeguard, commemorated Global Handwashing Day by launching handwashing stations in Taguig City schools. Global Handwashing Day, observed annually, aims to raise awareness about the importance of soap-based handwashing as a simple, low-cost, and effective method of disease prevention and life-saving.

P&G Safeguard completes handwashing stations made from eco-bricks for Taguig City schools. Present during the inauguration were (L-R)  Charm Banzuelo, P&G Philippines Senior Communications Manager; King Martin Agoncillo, P&G Philippines Senior Communications Manager; Nelson Quintong, Taguig National High School Head; Dr. Alejandro Ibañez, Schools Division of Taguig City and Pateros Superintendent; Rowena Roa, Schools Division of Taguig and Pateros Public Schools District Supervisor; Rodil Marcelino, Taguig City Councilor; Reginald Andal, Manila Water Foundation Executive Director.

This initiative is part of the P&G Safeguard "SafeWASH in Schools" program, which was created in collaboration with the Manila Water Foundation. The program aims to instill good hygiene practices in students and teachers, protecting them from germs and viruses while at school. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), regular soap handwashing promotes good health because having clean hands is a basic defense against the spread of infections, illnesses, and harmful germs.

P&G Safeguard previously donated handwashing stations to 285 schools in the National Capital Region and Rizal Province. The most recent addition to handwashing stations is also made of eco-bricks, or building materials made from recycled plastic waste.

Dr. Alejandro Ibañez, School Division Superintendent of Taguig City and Pateros, expressed his gratitude for P&G and Safeguard’s dedication to enhancing WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives in schools.

“The new handwashing station from P&G and Safeguard is helpful for us. It reminds me and my classmates to wash our hands regularly, which helps keep our school a healthier place to learn and play together." ~Nichelle, a 15-year-old student from Taguig National High School

Safeguard has been promoting health and hygiene throughout the country for over three decades.  By supporting Global Handwashing Day, Safeguard and its partners hope to provide schools and the community with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves from germs on a daily basis.

InLife Offers a Lifeline in the Fight Against Breast Cancer Through ‘Resilience’

“We stand by our clients in their fight against cancer. With Resilience, they can better focus on their treatments without the burden of financial worries. They can have peace of mind and concentrate more on their health knowing that the treatment costs are covered. More than just an insurance product, Resilience aims to help the insured withstand and recover quickly from their illness so they can enjoy a good life with their loved ones. It contains our promise to be there for our clients because here we say, Kami ang Bahala sa Inyo.” ~Gae Martinez, InLife Chief Marketing Officer and Bancassurance Head

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in the Philippines, and as Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, the need for increased awareness and immediate action to combat it grows even stronger.

According to the World Health Organization's most recent data, the country has one of the highest breast cancer incidence rates in Asia, with 33,079 cases in 2022.

In its commitment to assisting Filipinos during difficult times. Insular Life (InLife), the country's first and largest Filipino life insurance company, launched Resilience, a comprehensive product that covers breast cancer and other types of cancer. Resilience is a limited-pay whole-life critical illness plan that offers a guaranteed lump sum cash payment upon critical illness diagnosis, as well as additional health benefits. It has three variants, one of which is Resilience Female Cancers.

Resilience Female Cancers covers biologically-born women who are diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as eight other types of cancers: ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancer; uterine sarcomas, malignant mixed mullerian tumors, malignant germ cell tumors, fallopian tube cancer, and leiomyosarcoma.

Resilience is a traditional whole life plan that allows the insured to receive their life insurance benefit (equal to 100% of the sum insured) in advance if they are diagnosed with a covered major critical illness in order to cover medical expenses. In the event of hospitalization due to a covered disease, they may also be eligible for a cash benefit. If there is no claim for critical illness, they may begin receiving a cash benefit of 8% of the sum insured at age 65 (depending on issue age) and every five years thereafter until the age of 85.

Apart from Resilience Female Cancers, the two other variants are: Resilience Critical Illness Extra and Resilience Cancer, Heart Attack and Stroke (CHAS). The former provides coverage for 84 major and 39 minor critical illnesses, and the latter provides coverage for all kinds of Cancers, Heart Attack and Stroke.

Both Resilience Critical Illness Extra and Resilience CHAS include two additional benefits: late-stage cancer coverage and a buy-back option. The late-stage cancer benefit pays 15% of the insured amount if a late-stage cancer is diagnosed. The buy-back benefit allows an insured who was previously diagnosed with a critical illness and received 100% of the sum insured to receive 100% of the sum insured again when diagnosed with CHAS two years later.
