NGA 911 LLC, the parent company of NGA 911 Philippines/NGCS, the country's provider of next-generation advanced emergency response, is in town on a trade mission to introduce innovative products, services, and solutions that will contribute to economic growth and sustainable urban development in the Philippines.

Organized by the United States. Department of Commerce and supported by the United States. The Embassy's Mission aims to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange among mission delegates and local stakeholders.

Twelve companies that provide advanced cutting-edge US solutions for sustainable smart city and infrastructure development met with government representatives to present and discuss innovative infrastructure technologies for local industrial, business, and lifestyle applications.

The companies offer graph-based AI technologies, progressive and comprehensive rail industry solutions, cyber security services, energy services, advanced AI solutions for the automotive and manufacturing industries, privacy-preserving data sharing, advanced engineering, construction, and project management solutions, mobile app data management and privacy behaviors, and next-generation, advanced emergency response.

The trade mission, which follows the highly successful Presidential Trade and Investment Mission to Manila led by Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo on behalf of President Joe Biden in March, will look into local governance practices and urban development strategies in both countries. At the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), Ant International, a global leader in digital payment and financial technology, announced the launch of AquaViva, a new global marine conservation program that aims to support healthy marine ecosystems through digital innovations and open collaborative partnerships. Ant International will prioritize marine conservation as a key component of its environmental sustainability initiatives.

The ocean is our most powerful ally against the effects of climate change. It provides 50% of the oxygen we require, absorbs 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions, and captures 90% of the excess heat produced by these emissions. Although more than 190 countries have adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, an international commitment to better protect the planet, only 8% of the ocean is currently protected, falling short of the 30% target required to sustain the ocean's benefits for our people and the environment.

With an ecosystem of over 90 million merchants, many of whom are MSMEs, and 1.6 billion digital users, Ant International will use its extensive digital channels to reach global users and motivate them to take sustainable and meaningful actions for marine conservation.

For example, Ant International has collaborated with its ecosystem partner, GCash in the Philippines, on the GForest initiative, which encourages eco-friendly activities and supports tree planting.


AquaViva partners with Conservation International for whale shark conservation
Conservation International, a global organization with over 25 years of experience in Asia Pacific (APAC) conservation, has joined AquaViva as its first key partner, contributing their extensive knowledge to protect oceans and improve ecosystem health. Ant International and Conservation International will collaborate to drive marine conservation efforts from Singapore, where both organisations have established a presence, to the APAC region.

The first joint project will focus on whale shark conservation in Indonesia. The project, led by Conservation International's main implementing partner Konservasi Indonesia, will work with Indonesian authorities and communities to develop and implement ecotourism policies and practices that promote whale shark-friendly, sustainable tourism in key habitats such as Saleh Bay in Sumbawa, Gorontalo in Sulawesi, and Kaimana in West Papua.

The two parties will also look into collaborations where Conservation International can expand its research capacity to further their marine conservation efforts, leveraging Ant International's digital solutions to gain more insights from the research data they collect. 
 
AquaViva will use Ant International's digital capabilities to raise awareness, educate communities, and foster a global perspective on marine sustainability. This includes using data analytics and outreach platforms to supplement Conservation International's research and gain deeper insights into conservation efforts. The partnership hopes to inspire a large audience with these advanced digital tools, bringing together governments, corporations, and individuals to drive eco-friendly practices that benefit marine life.

Sony Music Entertainment Philippines and Justin of SB19 give back to local communities in Manila through “Season of Giving” campaign

Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, in collaboration with Justin of SB19, have teamed up with Rise Against Hunger Philippines (RAHP) to provide aid to impoverished communities in Manila affected by the recent typhoon and economic challenges.

This initiative is part of Sony Music Group’s (SMG) global ‘Season of Giving’ campaign, where the company and its artists are paying it forward to the countries in which the international music label operates. The campaign embodies the label’s unwavering commitment to making a positive impact around the world, and while supporting communities where music is created and enjoyed.

On November 7, 2024, Christmas came early for the kids at Better World Tondo as Justin of SB19, the rising solo artist and member of SB19, visited the area for a day filled with exciting games, spectacular performances, and nutritious meals. The children were visibly delighted as their idol, serenaded them with his captivating version of Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning,” before treating them to two more stunning performances—his solo hit “surreal” and SB19’s “Ikako.”

In addition to his performances, Justin of SB19 brought even more joy to the kids with interactive games like Bring Me, and even personally served their healthy menudo rice meals with papaya slices.

Justin of SB19 expressed enthusiasm for participating in the campaign, which aims to provide much-needed food aid to local communities while also providing a sense of joy and relief through entertainment.

McDonald's now offers the Sweet BBQ Glazed Chicken McDo, a festive twist on the classic Chicken McDo with a sweet barbeque sauce that combines smoky and savory flavors. In response to overwhelmingly positive reviews, Ballet Manila has announced that it will stage a much-anticipated restaging of the famous Filipino epic poem turned ballet, Florante at Laura, from November 22 to 24, 2024, at the Hyundai Hall, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City. During its triumphant world premiere at the Aliw Theater last month, the production enthralled audiences with its breathtaking dancing, evocative original music, and stunning choreography.

The Prince of Tagalog Poets, Francisco "Balagtas" Baltasar, wrote the Filipino literary classic "Florante at Laura" in 1838. The story of Florante, the Duke of Albania, being taken prisoner by the Turks is told in this narrative poem. Laura, his beloved, is compelled to wed the usurper Count Adolfo. Florante escapes with the warrior Aladin's assistance, goes back to face Adolfo, and seeks atonement as he meets Laura again.

Under Lisa Macuja Elizalde's artistic direction, Ballet Manila has assembled a world-class creative team to bring this epic Filipino tale to the stage.

During the performance, the gifted Orchestra of the Filipino Youth, led by Maestro Toma Cayabyab, will record the original score written by the renowned National Artist for Ryan Cayabyab. Audiences have been enthralled and moved by this potent fusion of dance and music, which has made every aspect of the performance unforgettable.
