Bike Scouts and Pizza Hut's #MidnightRideThruDelivery brings the sharing tradition to the streets of Metro Manila and Cebu

When pizza deliveries are made at midnight bayanihan-style by a group of volunteer bikers, Christmas happens. #MidnightRideThruDelivery by Bike Scouts & Pizza Hut brings the tradition of sharing to the street.

Christmas is a time of celebration when friends and family gather for a customary meal. Toasting the holidays, everyone is cheerful. However, the reality is that thousands of homeless communities in the Philippines are oblivious to the holiday festivities. Pizza Hut, Bike Scouts, and a unique advocacy called the Midnight Ride join forces here to cheer up these homeless communities.

Bike Scouts, a group of cyclists who came together to help with relief and rescue efforts in Tacloban after the province was destroyed by Typhoon Yolanda, was the precursor to the Midnight Ride. The group, which is now known as Bike Scouts Philippines, has grown to over 150,000 members and is a force for good—ordinary cyclists who are also rescuers and good Samaritans. The group's official name is Bike Scouts Philippines.

The Midnight Ride is one of the most well-known customs of the Bike Scouts. On Christmas Eve each year, volunteer Bike Scouts ride across the city to give homeless people food and gifts, bringing holiday cheer to those who need it most.

Pizza Hut, one of the nation's most well-known pizza chains, noticed the annual ride. They had been looking for a unique strategy for bringing the spirit of Christmas to communities with limited resources. Bike Scouts of the Philippines formed a one-of-a-kind partnership for the season through the efforts of Pizza Hut's advertising and communication agency, Havas Ortega Group. This partnership is known as the Bike Scouts x Pizza Hut Midnight Ride Bike Thru Delivery.

how this campaign became a true effort of collaboration. The Bike Scouts were given the task of pinning locations in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu's transient communities using Google Maps. The Bike Scouts x Pizza Hut Midnight Ride Bike Thru Delivery's impromptu delivery of Noche Buena meals to the homeless was marked by over 141 pinned locations.

During the holiday season, the public used the pins to help those in need by giving them food and holiday cheer. The outcome was a scattering of joyful gatherings all over the city, bringing hope, love, and the Christmas spirit to areas where there had previously been none.

Despite the difficult year that has passed, there is always a chance to make someone's day, and this is especially true during the Christmas season. A pizza chain and a group of volunteer bikers were all that was needed for one memorable ride at midnight on one extraordinary night.
