"The light of the world is not only for those who can see. Dreams are not only for the able-bodied. This is a long term commitment, not only do we have to support them at school and work but we also need the foundation to be there for the students even when their parents are no longer around. It is my dream to build a livelihood village as a show case where the blind students and other kids with impairments can have a safe haven and live their lives to the fullest yet exposed to the world under their terms. The families of the kids can have a piece of mind knowing that their children will be looked after in a society where they can function to the best of their God given abilities. What we must not do is belittle and isolate any kids, what we can do is to provide those working villages based upon the new towns that Prince Charles has proven to be successful where rich and poor will have the same life. I can’t imagine being blind, I always hear the fears of the parents as well as the students, like what happens if their loved once are no longer there for them. So through the foundation we will provide them a safe life and teach them to work with their talents and capabilities. Some has the capability to work in a call center as translators, and we will also be working with blind schools and the government for establishing buildings where they can work and learn business like spa and launderette, making soap or ice cream. They will experience real jobs and receive real wage. We must dare to care and we must dare to push the essence of helping from today till forever! Where I saw darkness I now see light, when I feel down now I eventually feel happy and it’s because these kids and teachers and their parents have helped me see my passion and made me realize that God has given us the ability to help and there are many ways to help and there are many communities that needs our passion to help. James MacKay Foundation (SEC Reg No. CN201701863). A non-profit organization which aims to transform the lives of the disabled and less fortunate by giving them hope, and a chance at life. The foundation supports people with disabilities in their education by training potential teachers, and providing the necessary facilities for the school/s that cater to their needs. The main beneficiary of the foundation is the Philippine National School for the Blind, but the foundation is also expanding its reach to the provinces.
James said that the school for the blind gave him the awareness that someone has to “dare to care” and help spread that awareness and encourage people to support the needs of the Philippine National School for the Blind and other communities that need care and support. By the time he was already fully involved with helping the school only did he realize that they don’t just attend to the problem today but also in the years to come because the kids are also the adults of tomorrow. Seeing the School’s situation he started the foundation for the amazing and special students and their eyes were opened that even the smallest way of helping gives joy to the kids and relief for their families.
Mr MacKay believes in a life of equal opportunities for our differently-abled brothers and sisters. Having seen closely for himself how amazing and special these children are, with all their potentials of becoming productive citizens. James realized that someone needs to encourage people to help and spread this awareness. Dare to Care. Is the inspiration motto he has offered to others. For James, to care for those with special needs is not for the faint-hearted. One needs a full, emboldened, and sincere heart to be able to extend, go out of the way for people with disabilities. This is a long term commitment.
Furthermore, the foundation also seeks to give opportunities to farmers and their families. The foundation is certain that even the smallest way of helping gives joy to the kids and relief for their families, such that the foundation is also there for the students even when their parents are no longer around.
In this endeavor, the foundation is open for partnership with organizations and individuals who have the same goal of making the world a better place for everyone.
