KALYENEGOSYO… ENABLING GRASSROOTS MICRO-ENTREPRENEURS TO REALIZE THEIR DREAMS

The idea is to inspire them to realize their dreams, legitimize their businesses and level up their lives. SME’s can share their old carts, pass on their old but still, usable equipment to help out the start-ups. By doing so, we create an EntrepEcosystem that will hopefully continue and expand to create more and more entrepreneurs whether big or small.” ~Jorge Wieneke, Long-time food entrepreneur, GoNegosyo Angelpreneur, professor and business consultant

A small business can go and progress with the help of people who does it best. I myself would love to be part of any small negosyo in which I can learn some techniques and get to know successful people who went thru a small business and gained lots of clients.

It all started out as a dream, wanting to give back to the community and sharing the little that God had blessed him with.

Long-time food entrepreneur, GoNegosyo Angelpreneur, professor and business consultant, Jorge Wieneke’s eyes were opened to the need to create a country of entrepreneurs. With poverty being the country’s major problem, Wieneke felt that the solution would be to create an entrepvolution where even people from the grassroots level become entrepreneurs in their own right.

KalyeNegosyo started out as a sustained 6-month free entrepreneurship program for street-based entrepreneurs like the fishballs, balut, barbecue vendors and sapateros but evolved to include small carinderia owners, pandesal bakers, meat sellers and the like. Piloting in Bgy. South Cembo, Makati in 2013 KalyeNegosyo has graduated two batches of KalyeNegosyantes since then, supported by the local government.

Now on its 3rd year, KalyeNegosyo wishes to reach a bigger and wider market and as such has opened up its doors to participants nationwide.

Being a GoNegosyo Angelpreneur has inspired Wieneke to pursue this dream, together with the help of his core Angelpreneur friends who all volunteer for and support KalyeNegosyo. It was through his caravans therein that he realized that no one seems to be talking to the people from this segment with regard to entrepreneurship. These people do not need academic modules but would learn more from inspirational anecdotes from actual successful entrepreneurs.

Another goal for Wieneke is to entice his fellow entrepreneurs to pay it forward, give of their time, their resources and materials to help emerging entrepreneurs.

KalyeNegosyo started out on local capacity. For 2016, it aims to become bigger so it may help more people become successful in their chosen fields of passion and live out their dreams.

Kalye Negosyo is the mentoring advocacy which helps micro-entrepreneurs at the grassroots level, become bigger and better entrepreneurs. Visit www.facebook.com/kalyenegosyo for more details.
