GCash ensures secure, real-time remittances for Filipinos in the US

"GCash has grown exponentially in the Philippines, and we believe the next wave of growth is international. Our mission for financial inclusion extends beyond the Philippines to our overseas Filipinos as well. We recognize the growing population of migrants in the US and want to make it easier for them to send money home, pay bills, and invest in their future. At the core of everything we do is user safety and security.” ~Paul Albano, GCash International General Manager

GCash reinforces its commitment to protect users through cutting-edge cybersecurity measures and fraud protection programs. GCash ensures secure, real-time remittances for Filipinos in the US. Leading finance app strengthens cybersecurity to safeguard users.

As the top finance app and biggest cashless ecosystem in the Philippines, GCash reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding users with state-of-the-art cybersecurity measures and fraud prevention initiatives, ensuring that millions of Filipinos in the US have safe and quick access to remittance services to the Philippines.

More than four million Filipinos have been able to download GCash using their U.S. mobile numbers since the company's March 2023 launch in the US. This has allowed them to safely send money back to the Philippines at any time, from any location, and cash it in real time. They can also use it to pay bills for personal investments back home.

While people without legitimate Filipino government-issued identification can still download and use the app to transmit money, users with valid IDs can build a GCash wallet to access the GCash suite of services.

Industry-leading security features

Because of GCash's stringent "1 Device, 1 Account" restriction, a user's account can only be accessed by the registered device.  This greatly lowers the chance of hacking and stops hackers from accessing accounts from unapproved devices.

GCash has also added a mechanism that prevents access from devices that have been altered, jailbroken, or rooted in order to further improve security.  GCash eliminates any weaknesses that scammers could take advantage of by limiting the app's operation to smartphones with standard security settings.

An extra layer of authentication called "DoubleSafe" was introduced by GCash and involves facial recognition when attempting to log in. This feature makes sure that only the legitimate account owner may access the account, even if the user's One-Time Password (OTP) and Mobile Personal Identification Number (MPIN) are compromised.

GCash has incorporated AI-driven security technologies that examine user behavior and account activity in real time, realizing that hackers are increasingly using AI to perpetrate schemes.  By proactively evaluating risks and identifying anomalous activities, these tools assist GCash in preventing fraudulent schemes before they even occur.
