At Home Credit, we are honored to host this event, as it aligns with our values as an equal-opportunity employer and our ongoing commitment to championing DEIB in the workplace. Through initiatives like this, we continue to empower individuals and foster a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and included. We are grateful for the insightful discussions during this event, as they provide valuable learnings that will continue to guide our journey in strengthening DEIB at Home Credit. The nation's top consumer finance company, Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), held the Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) Q4 Membership Meeting and Fellowship Night to reaffirm its dedication to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).

The event's main topics were DEIB innovations, problem-solving techniques, and integrating DEIB with organizational sustainability.  Additionally, it provided a platform for the introduction of the organization's new members, as well as for the presentation of the Rainbow Youth Academy Cycle 3 Updates and the third Philippine Bahaghari closeout report.

A roundtable discussion titled Evolving Pride: The New Challenges and Opportunities for DEIB and Pride Network Leaders was one of the event's main highlights. Leading panelists included Joseph Magadan, Delivery Lead Manager of Accenture Philippines; Josh Calzo, Co-Chair of Rainbow Lions Philippines at ING Philippines; April Soriano, Associate Client Services Manager–Core Recruiting & Service Excellence at IBM Consulting; and Janlee Dungca, Managing Director of Castro Communications. The session was facilitated by Russell Jude Patina, Senior Public Relations Manager and Vice President for External Affairs of the Pride Club at HCPH.

Securing leadership and cross-functional support for the community, overcoming obstacles to DEIB success, aligning DEIB initiatives with organizational and ESG goals, and the role of inclusive technology and data-driven DEIB strategies were among the important topics covered by the panel.

In addition to implementing initiatives to guarantee a workplace where all employees feel appreciated, respected, and have equal opportunities, HCPH has been actively working on its DEIB efforts.  Dacanay's workplace inclusion efforts, efforts to advance gender equality and LGBTQIA+ advocacy, and partnerships with organizations to enhance its DEI policies and programs were highlighted during a Pride-DEI knowledge-sharing session.

Strengthening DEIB strategies and leadership development

In order to promote inclusivity and stimulate innovation, the conversations underscored the necessity for organizations to incorporate DEIB as a fundamental strategic priority. The panelists emphasized how crucial it is to use data and KPIs to gauge the effectiveness of business resource groups. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of allowing self-identification options, which give businesses information about their diversity initiatives. Technology, compliance, and regulatory frameworks were found to be important factors influencing DEIB initiatives.

Supporting professional development and LGBTQ+ rights

Regarding leadership development, the panelists talked about actively educating and involving executives in DEIB initiatives, making sure they remain involved by providing them with workplace inclusion reports and data.  By giving younger generations, like Gen Z and Gen Alpha, the chance to spearhead the next generation of DEIB advocates, leaders were urged to get ready for generational shifts.

Initiatives promoting LGBTQ+ rights and professional development were also highlighted at the event.  Participants were urged to look into scholarship programs like the ASEAN Chevening Scholarship, which funds visionary leaders dedicated to promoting constructive change in the Philippines.  Tuition, living expenses, and other necessary expenses are all covered by this scholarship.

There was also discussion of the Right to Care Card, a landmark achievement for LGBTQ+ rights.  Queer couples now have the legal authority to decide on their partners' medical care thanks to this program, which was introduced in Quezon City.  The initiative seeks to give the LGBTQ+ community more legal recognition and protections, with plans to expand to other cities.

The event brought together nearly 100 representatives from PFIP member companies and organizations, including Aboitiz Power, Accenture, AIA Philippines, British Embassy, Coca-Cola, Cognizant, IBM Philippines, ING, JP Morgan Chase, Quezon City Gender and Development Council (QC-GAD Council), Shell, and many more.

“PFIP’s mission is to be the leading voice and champion of workplace inclusion in the Philippines. Our vision, our ultimate goal, is to have limitless career options for LGBTQ+ professionals.” ~Chris Eugenio, PFIP’s Board Advisor
