Sony Exhibits at CES® 2025

To create a future filled with Kando together with creators: Showcasing its innovative technologies and initiatives to maximize the value of content IP under the “Creative Entertainment Vision”.

Sony Group Corporation (“Sony”) is exhibiting at CES® 2025, taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Tuesday, Jan. 7 (PST), under the theme “Creative Entertainment Vision,” the long-term vision for where Sony wants to be in 10 years.

At Sony's press conference on Monday, January 6, Hiroki Totoki, the company's president, COO, and CFO, took the stage. Along with a wide range of speakers, he unveiled several key initiatives that pave the way for Sony's “Creative Entertainment Vision,” such as the newest tools for creating spatial content and innovative solutions that foster creativity, like a new vehicle processing system. Sony noted projects for transforming game IP into visual works, co-creation with musicians, and new location-based entertainment experiences as ways to broaden the world of game IP from various angles, in addition to launching initiatives in the anime industry to grow the fan base. Making an anime series is one of these. The game "Ghost of Tsushima: Legends," a new manga app called "Crunchyroll Manga," and the release month for season two of the drama series "The Last of Us" were all announced.

Additionally, Sony discussed the most recent advancements in the evolution of sports entertainment with guest speaker Roger Goodell, Commissioner of the US National Football League. Additionally, as an example of mobility innovation, Sony Honda Mobility unveiled its EV "AFEELA 1," for which it will start taking orders in 2025.

Totoki concluded the press conference by highlighting that Sony's “Creative Entertainment Vision” entails partners, Sony coworkers, and creators collaborating to create endless realities for everyone that will arouse curiosity and produce an endless sense of Kando.

Main Exhibits

The exhibition will highlight the newest technologies and initiatives to maximize the value of intellectual property and unleash the creativity of creators, in line with Sony's long-term vision for where it hopes to be in ten years, known as its “Creative Entertainment Vision.” With its three phases—"Creativity Unleashed," "Boundaries Transcended," and "Narratives Everywhere"—the booth is organized around Sony's Creative Entertainment Vision. It also showcases an artistic representation of the future of creation that Sony envisions, where content is created and expanded through creators' partnerships.

  • New Vehicle Processing System that Utilizes Virtual Production: “PXO AKIRA”
For the first time, this exhibit presents "PXO AKIRA," a brand-new, state-of-the-art system that revolutionizes the conventional approach to shooting vehicles by increasing safety, cutting expenses, and fostering creativity. PXO AKIRA offers a comprehensive solution for filming cars using Virtual Production in any environment by combining an advanced robotic camera crane with a specially designed motion platform, LED volume technology, and an integrated digital twin tool. The display will also feature a 3D reconstruction tool that works in tandem with PXO AKIRA and provides the ability to capture real-world environments and turn them into 3D digital backgrounds that are immersive.

  • “XYN™” Integrated Software and Hardware Solution Designed to Support the Creation of Spatial Content
Today, Sony Corporation announced the release of "XYN™," a hardware and software combination that facilitates the production of spatial content. "XYN" uses proprietary algorithms to precisely capture and replicate objects, human motion, and backgrounds in real-world spaces by utilizing cutting-edge technologies in imaging, sensing, and display. This allows for effective reproduction in a 3D Computer Graphics (CG) production environment and makes it easier to create flexible workflows. At the booth, attendees can test out products and solutions that are still in development.

  • LEGO® Horizon Adventures™ Brings the Music of mxmtoon Alive
Inspired by the world of Horizon, LEGO® Horizon AdventuresTM is a lighthearted and playful story that uses only LEGO components. The song's theme, composed and produced by a teaser for the music video will be unveiled at CES as part of MXMtoon's creative extension of the Horizon franchise. The game is expanded into animated content in the video by utilizing assets created for the game using Epic Games' Unreal Engine.

With the help of mxmtoon's music, this project is a fantastic collaboration that combined the inventiveness of several teams, including Guerrilla, The LEGO Group, Pixomondo, and Sony. Visitors can play the game, watch the behind-the-scenes video that showcases the creative and production process, and get a preview of the music video at the booth.

  • Experience based on the theme “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle”
The planning and production of video and music works, mainly in the field of animation; game planning and development; theatrical production and distribution; and the planning, production, and sales of merchandise are just a few of the many businesses that make up Aniplex Inc., a comprehensive entertainment company with operations all over the world.

The anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which is based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotoge published under SHUEISHA's JUMP COMICS and has sold over 150 million copies, is the subject of experiences that guests can have at the booth. Ufotable is the company that produced the animation. A photo booth that replicates the poster for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, the first of three films that will be released in theaters across the globe in 2025, will be part of the exhibit.

  • Immersive Location-based Entertainment Concept based on “The Last of Us”
Sony is looking into ways to increase the value of content IP by creating a proof-of-concept for location-based entertainment that incorporates technologies such as video, audio, and haptics to give creators new avenues for expression. This future immersive entertainment concept showcases the suspenseful action-adventure game "The Last of Us" with high-definition video, 3D sounds, and olfactory technologies.
