Malayan High School of Science held a gift-giving event in time for the season of giving, in its adopted community in Barangay 842, Pandacan, Manila, last December 20.
The collaborative effort of Malayan Science's administration and students was able to prepare gift packs containing school supplies, which were given to 54 nursery and kindergarten students. Through its active coordination with the adopted community, Malayan Science determined the need of the community school and its students in the conduct of classes during the pandemic.

Barangay 842 has been Malayan Science’s adopted community for years. The school’s programs for the community has expanded to feeding programs, donation of
learning materials and school supplies, storytelling sessions for
students, and seminars for parents.
“The continuous conduct of these activities strengthens the partnership between the community and Malayan Science. It also inspires and uplifts our students and staff and members of the adopted community in becoming stewards of change.” ~Maeve P. Fernandez, Malayan Science Student Activities Coordinator
Meanwhile, Maeve P. Fernandez, Malayan Science student activities coordinator, believes that outreach programs empower communities and strengthen students’ active participation in the promotion of social values.
